Foundation Staff Reaches out To Rotary
On March 28th, Barbara Nathan, on behalf of the Arizona Foundation , spoke to a group of over 40 Rotarians in Pinal County including several visiting members from Canada. At the Rotary’s request, Nathan gave an in depth talk, provided materials, and took questions about the many programs and volunteer opportunities offered by the Foundation. The Rotarians included attorneys, educators, business owners and health care professionals.

Kids Voting Partners with Arizona Foundation to Increase Civic Participation in Arizona
Kids Voting Arizona and the Foundation have joined forces to begin gearing up for the 2008 presidential election. With Arizona’s voter turn out ranking 40th out of the 50 states in the 2006 election, Kids Voting Arizona and the Arizona Foundation for Legal Services & Education are declaring the time to begin their campaign for the next national election is now.
Legal Assistance and Law Related Education will be offered to thousands of Arizonan’s next year with the help of over $1,300,000 in 2007 grant awards announced by the Arizona Foundation for Legal Services & Education (The Foundation).
“The Foundation Board is honored to assist in the efforts of these excellent organizations,” said David Haga, 2006 Foundation Board President. “In addition to the traditional Interest on Lawyer Trust Accounts (IOLTA) grant awards, the Foundation is able to distribute additional grants totaling $175,000 as a result of the generous support of the State Bar of Arizona’s members.”
Dobson High Schools Wins the We The People State Competion!
Dobson High School will once again represent Arizona at the We The People National Finals at the end of April. They won the We the People State Competition In January, competing against the ten best teams from around the state. The Program encourages active learning in and out of the classroom about contemporary constitutional issues, the history of democratic philosophy and the history surrounding the creation of the US Constitution and Bill of Rights.
Xavier High School wins Arizona State Mock Trial Championship!
Phoenix's Xavier High School took first place at the State Tournament on Saturday March 25, 2007 at the Sandra Day O'Connor Federal Courthouse. University High School in Tucson took second through fourth place. As the State Champion, Xavier will represent Arizona at the National High School Mock Trial Tournament in Dallas, Texas in May.
