Foundation Recognizes Outstanding Attorneys at State Bar Convention
On June 28th at the State Bar Convention, the Foundation presented its annual awards: the Walter E. Craig Distinguished Service Award, the William E. Morris Pro Bono Service Award, the Foundation for Justice Award, and the Top Pro-Bono Attorney recognitions.

Westwind Academy Wins State Project Citizen Portfolio Showcase
The topic of the winning Project Citizen Portfolio was "Tagging and Graffiti", Carrie Algozzini's eighth grade boys. Their Portfolio will be judged again in Aug. at the National Conference of State Legislators in Boston, Mass. Mogollon Jr. High School won the top prize for the oral hearing with their topic, "School Vandelism".
Foundation Hosts 2nd Annual CSI Showcase
The Forensic Science competition coincided with the statewide legal services conference in May. The winner of the Middle School division was Centennial Middle School from Yuma, and the High School division winner was North Canyon High School Team 3 from Phoenix.
Foundation Hosts Law Week Events Focusing on Youth
The Foundation hosted several events to celebrate Law Day in Arizona the first week of May. “The Law Day 2007 theme was ‘Liberty Under Law: Empowering Youth, Assuring Democracy’ highlighting important work our Arizona legal community does to strengthen the democratic process through educating our youth and increasing public understanding of the law,” said Program Director Jeff Schrade.
35 We The People Teachers Newly Trained at Summer Institute
The We The People Summer Institute in June and the Project Citizen Western Region Summer Institute in July offered the teachers an opportunity to hear presentations from national civic education leaders, Arizona Supreme Court Justice Scott Bales, Arizona State Representative Peter Hershberger, and other local experts.
